Leveling everyone to 9th and giving (nearly) each PC a stat boost item brought them inline with CRs of the encounters. There were a few instances where DR was an issue but that has more to do with the small amount of gp that I gave out than the races of the PCs.
One of the significant issues was having a construct race because of all the immunities. This wasn't unexpected, as I think that constructs, plants, and undead have a lot of immunities. Long term play would require compensation.
Overall I'm very pleased with the race building rules. I'm sure that the final book will refine some of the rough edges.
I think that the Advanced Race Guide will pair nicely with the Distant Worlds, Pathfinder's nod to Spelljammer.

Thoughts

With three sessions under our belts, it's obvious that the group is underpowered for the module. This is likely a combination of low ability point buy, monster adjustment level, and having a three person party. The three players are frontline, sneak attacker, and druid, so a good cross-section of abilities are present.

Going forward in the fourth session with the players as level 9 to compensate. Considering adding an NPC to round out the group.
