GM-less games

Dialect
"Dialect is a game about an isolated community, their language, and what it means for that language to be lost. In this game, you’ll tell the story of the Isolation by building their language. New words will come from the fundamental aspects of the community: who they are, what they believe in, and how they respond to a changing world."

Downfall
In Downfall, you choose a Flaw you want to explore and build a unique and irredeemably broken world around it. See how Greed destroys a city, how Loyalty corrupts a kingdom, or how Curiosity betrays a galactic empire. You'll craft traditions that bring your society to life, then see how it all comes tumbling down."

Eden
Eden is a tabletop role-playing game about learning what it means to be human. You’ll collaborate to map the Garden, create the talking animals that live there, and role-play scenes as animals and human characters, ultimately weaving a narrative of exploration, self-discovery, and personal growth."

Follow
Follow is a game where you sit down with your friends and play characters working together to achieve a common goal: your quest.

Kingdom
Your Kingdom can be any group or organization that interests you. You could play a Wild West frontier town, a colony ship crawling to a distant star, or a sprawling Empire holding conquered peoples beneath its thumb. As you play, you'll confront your Kingdom and your characters with Crossroads, critical decisions that may change your community forever. What will your Kingdom do? What will it become? Strive to make your Kingdom live up to your ideals... or watch as it burns. The Kingdom is in your hands. The question is: will you change the Kingdom or will the Kingdom change you?"

Microscope

Microscope Explorer
Explorer also lets you use Microscope in entirely new ways. It includes three spin-off games, each based on the core principles of Microscope but with careful adjustments to create different experiences: UNION transforms the normal Microscope history into a family tree. You go back and fill in the blanks to explore the lives of the ancestors whose unions brought each new generation into existence. CHRONICLE focuses and streamlines Microscope, narrowing the history to the story of a single thing, such as a building, a city or a ring of power. It also brings individuals to the forefront of the story with anchor characters whose lives are intertwined with each chapter of the history. It's a simpler, more personal, Microscope. ECHO lets you muck around with alternate history and cause-and-effect. Travel back in time and change a single moment and see how that change would echo forward, reshaping your history or utterly destroying it."

Noir World
This is Noir World. And this is your world and your Movie now. Your story is worth telling, even though it’s not going to be pretty. You might not make it out alive, but it’ll be one hell of a ride. It’s true what they say: the City is full of stories, and not all of them have happy endings."

Union
Union is a game of family and ancestry. You'll start by creating the end of the story, a single hero who confronts some problem facing the family or the society as a whole. Then you'll jump back and forth across the generations to see how all their ancestors' lives made the hero who they are."

Protocol Fantasy Omnibus, A Guide to GMless Gaming
This book is many things. It is a toolbox for better gaming. It is an introductory document for people who’ve never played a GMless game before. Or who are having trouble making the transition into GMless games. What it cannot be is a replacement for you and your imagination.
This book contains the following protocol games, focused on fantasy storytelling: Back to the Grave*, Black Dragon Inn, Clockwork Girl, Damascus, Deep Country*, The Desperation of Atlantis*, The Doom King, Drown the Pig*, Five Broken Swords, The Goblin, Highland Clearances, Home, Home II: March of the Damned*, House of Keys*, Lady Winter, The Oxbow*, Scions of the Last Age*, Svázany Rukojemníkov, and Valpurgis Night*. Games marked with an asterisk (*) are only presently available in this book, but will eventually be released separately.

Palette

The palette is a list of things that we'd like or not like in the series of short games that we play.

Things that we want in games

  • Easy to learn rules or systems that are already known by the group.

Things that we don't want

  • Games that run more than ~4 sessions.
  • Rules systems that are complex to learn and not known by the group, relative to the time to be spent with it (e.g. Savage Worlds, etc.)
