You are the last line of defense against the Cinder King

The Cinder King has raised gods to their service. Mired in politics, the armies of the Nine acted too slowly. At full strength, the Cinder King's army made the battle of Ettenmark Fields a slaughter. Your only hope is to outrun the oncoming hordes and gods while trying to find a way to unmake the Cinder King.

System: Band of Blades

Band of Blades is a forged in the dark RPG, ala Blades in the Dark. This is a game about finding out if you survive the oncoming army and if you make a difference in the war.

Player Roles

Each player (not character) will have a Role within the legion. The first three listed are required. The additional two roles are added as there are more players, and they are added in the order listed. (Five players are needed to have the Spymaster role in the game.)

  1. Required Commander: Selects the missions and routes.
  2. Required Marshal: Sets the personnel assignments for missions.
  3. Required Quartermaster: Handles the materiel for the Legion.
  4. Lorekeeper: Keeps the Annals of the Legion.
  5. Spymaster: Manages a stable of spies.

Characters

Each player will play a few Specialists and specific squad members throughout the course of the game. It is expected that you may lose characters when you go on missions.

You may have regular characters or you may cycle through a lot of characters. That is up to each player.

Specialists

  • Heavy: A guardian and powerful melee fighter.
  • Medic: A combat physician.
  • Officer: A leader and tactician.
  • Scout: A stealthy advance unit.
  • Powder Mage: A deadly soldier who uses gun powder for magic.
  • Magebreaker: A person traded in magic ability to be able to stop Privileged.

Squad Members

  • Rookie: An untested recruit.
  • Soldier: A hardened veteran.

Leaders of the Legion

The players have two choices to lead the legion. Each pair provides different gameplay and bonuses.

  • Taniel Two-shot (Powder Mage) and Ka-Poel (a Bone-eye blood sorceress)
  • Lady Vlora Flint (Powder Mage) and Privileged Borbador
