Getting the Shipment

Einion: Now that we have Remember, save and sound, she spills the beans about tonights off-world shipment. Du Bujac is using the Force Majeure as the transport ship. Using my communication and technical skills, I manage to disable the ship by convincing it that it is trapped in an ion storm.

This makes the Captain incredibly happy and we move in, convincing the loading dock that we are the backup ship. What doesn't make the Captain happy is that there is already a Chinese ship there and the cargo is getting loading onto that ship!

With Crow recovering, Lamar volunteers to try the talking way to get things going our way. Seeing this as an opportunity to test out something that I've been working on, I wrap his wrists with the device and fire it up. The whining sound is a bit loud, so I attach a music player to drown it out. In theory, this device creates a magnetic field that responds to strong kinetic actions, slowing them down if made by a metal object.

That theory got tested and it worked. Also, Lamar is still alive after the folks loading the other ship IMMEDIATELY opened fire on him.

I fire up some drones that I've been using for maintenance in some of the narrower tubes and pilot them to the Chinese ship where I cut the nitrous line near the folks firing at us. My plan works and they pass out.

Meanwhile the Captain is in a firefight with an Asian woman who looks just like the one that we done already killed. Not sure that that is about. He gets in a couple of good shots—one in the arm, another in the leg—and then BLAM. We're through.

From inside the dock we hear a well-dressed Chinese man calling out for parley, surrendering. The man goes by Kostya and agrees to strike a deal with Marion to give her back control of the mine.

In the end, we get half the shipment as payment and Marion gets the mine. Wins for everybody.
