'''Randy:''' I intentionally did not porportionally increase the point buy for cohorts. I want to keep cohorts out of the limelight, so I've given them a small amount of points. The feat Improved Cohort is really a waste of a feat considering that with how I run cohorts, they'll be 1 level under you half the time anyway. I don't mind the idea of a dragon cohort, and if you prefer to have Leadership purchase you a dragon cohort, we can work out the details. (That being said, I don't like the Dragon Cohort feat from the Draconomicon, it gives you too powerful of a dragon.)

Randy: Feel free to post your creations on the wiki. I would ask that you not post the pages to anyone other than friends for review. I'd like to keep the traffic on the site down. (I only pay $5/month for hosting all my sites, so the transfer rate is low-ish.)

Herman: Damn. The dragon thingies have already been done by Wotc. They even included the three choice format!! (With breath weapon and wings no less!!) Dragonborn of Bahamut

And no this is not a request for approval for the race. It's just interesting that a race that's similar to what I was making is getting published.

Randy (9/19): I recommend the feat Knockdown for your 3rd lvl feat for IK. Free Trip attack every time you do more than 10 damage.

Herman: A good idea, but it requires Improved Trip and Combat Expertise as prerequisites. It would be great if I hadn't decided to go for a crit heavy build, or if Jamison were a fighter. Although it is tempting, especially if Jamison Multiclasses into Human Paragon for the extra feat and gives the +2 to stregnth.

Randy (9/20): Does your crit heavy build have Power Critical? (adds +4 to confirm a crit)

Herman:That's the sixth level feat.

Daryl "Str 16 Dex 12 Con 14 Int 10 Wis 10 Cha 14" 10+4+6+2+2+6 = 30. Point buy is 29, not 30. Unless my math is wrong.

Herman:Con 13, the 14 is a typo.

Randy: You mentioned that there is going to be a Complete Psion book. I haven't been able to find a listing for it on the WotC product list. Where did you hear this?

Herman: It was a blurb on the side of a page on the Wotc site. It's on the Paizo website: Complete Psion

Randy: Thanks for the link. Looks kind of sketchy to me, without a cover. Hopefully it will actually get made. (I love psionics! It's too bad Daryl doesn't permit them ... bastard.)

I also just picked up Dragon #339 and it has new Hexblade feats that you may want to look at for Jamison.

Herman: I second that. He has that dislike of Dragon Magazine too! If I can talk him into allowing the Hexblade feats Jamison will definitely get them as his bonus feats. Spell Focus and Spell penetration aren't the best for a Hexblade, Hexblades are better as self enhancing fighters, to relieve the other casters of a few rounds of buffing, IMHO.

We'll probably see a preview/plug for Complete Psion on the Wotc site in a month or two. If we don't, then I'll start to worry. Right now I'm looking forward to Races of the Dragon and the Dragon Compendium actually showing up at Phantom. I might call phantom and ask if they can cancel a special order so I can buy the Compendium from Paizo itself! I know it's harsh, but the BESM book took months and it was the exact same problem. (Fat lot of good BESM does me, I'd have to take WEEKS to house rule everything to meet 3.5 D&D standards)

Althea's Draconic Heritage?

Randy: I've approved that Draconic Heritage feat. What kind of dragon is she descended from? I'll post a list of denied spells and we can discuss.

Herman: Silver. I get the feeling fireball will be on the denied list. (I'll cope. It's overrated if you meet anyone with Improved Evasion.) Althea

Randy: I think that denying her access to any fire spell would fit with being descended from a Silver dragon, considering that it has the Cold subtype. How does that sound?

Daryl: If Althea has fireball, she can't adventure with is. :P

Herman: Sounds good to me. I was actually expecting that from the start. It's not unmanageable, in fact, I like a challenge.

Randy: Glad that isn't an issue. I look forward to seeing her build.

Herman: How soon do you want her character sheet ready? (Next LRC session is no problem if want it that soon.) And, to check, the 32 point point buy is the rule for abilities?

Randy: If you could have her char sheet ready sooner than later, that would be good. I've started taking classes, so I'm fitting DND stuff in between my studying. You can find the rules for Leadership here. You have 22 points on abilities.

Herman: Um, I was expecting to keep her two levels below Lukas until I took the Improved Cohort Feat. I was also expecting a little more in the way of a point buy.

Where does this ruling come from? Is this the Faerun ruleset for Cohorts?

Randy: Cohorts aren't secondary characters. They aren't as special, which means that their abilities scores aren't as good. The number (22) comes from the point buy for cohorts in the Living Greyhawk (LG) rules. (Note that LG gives players 28 points to purchase abilities. I increased that to 32 so that everyone's PC could have some really good scores.) The XP ruling for the cohort serves two purposes; 1) to remind the player that the cohort should be considered their own character and not a class ability of the primary PC, and 2) actually allows the cohort to be within one level of your PC, instead of the usual two.

Herman: Did you increase the point buy for cohorts to match the increase that the PCs get? (Remember that I don't have all of the Living Greyhawk books.) I know I'm probably being annoying here but I'd rather keep the cohort 2 levels behind, give up the extra sorcerer options and take Improved Cohort at 9th level than have markedly lower ability scores. (27 to 29 rather than 22) I'd also sacrifice any followers from leadership beyond Althea.

This makes waiting for Dragon Cohort much more promising because a dragon gets +2's to it's abilities here and there as it levels.
