The DP and its bonuses happen *after* all other level up actions.
When may DP be spent? Game Session uses are apparent, but the other categories could be clarified. --Randy (Talk) 18:42, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
- At any point except in the middle of a level up, really. Before and after level up, fine, but not during. And you don't gain the new DP until after the level up finishes (and is on the wiki). --Mqs 18:45, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
- I'm 1,000xp away from leveling up and gain another DP, bringing my total to five. Can I spent them right then for a feat or do PCs have to wait until the character gains their next level? --Randy (Talk) 18:47, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
- If you gain the DP, you can spend it immediately. Mid session even. --Mqs 18:48, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

HP/Toughness example backwards. Toughness yields 50% more.--Arz 18:59, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
- 9 DP buys you 9 HP directly. 9 DP buys you three copies of Toughness (first costs 2, then 3, then 4), at 3 HP each, for 9 HP.
DP cost for domain granted ability?
I'm considering taking Arcane Disciple again and gaining the Repose domain from Sandstorm (very appropriate for Wee Jas) and would like to have the granted power with it. What would that cost in DP? --Randy (Talk) 19:12, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
- This is not something I currently included in my chart for available purchases. I'll have to consider such a thing. However, most domain powers are strong (War, for example, grants proficiency and focus, which would be a minimum of 6 points.) Repose's granted power (which, BTW, you never asked about that domain. Spells are limited to PHB, SpC, PHB2. Domains are like that... As it is, it's allowed though the 7th level spell is not from those sources) is the same as the death domain. It's fairly potent. By second level, it's "kill one commoner untraceably once per day". The cost in DP would be in excess of 5, for sure. --Mqs 21:01, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hurry Randy, run! He is on to you plan to slowly weed out commoners from the land! --Askewnotion 14:46, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Proficiencies
I'd downgrade exotic armor/wpn. I don't think its worth the cost. Its a single wpn/armor, not whole category. All exotic wpns for 4DP and single exotic wpn for 2DP seems more reasonable. Same for armor plus remove need to buy up to heavy to be proficient w/ light exotic etc. Personally think most exotics just aren't worth it.--Arz 15:26, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
Money
- How about pseudo-monetary awards? Purchase an NPC, property, or association? --Arz 15:26, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
- I also don't think the monetary award paces ECL or other DP expenditures. How about raising it or spending it @ craft cost regardless of feats/skill? This would be 1/3 cost for normal items or ~1/2 cost for magical items. Also might encourage custom items vs. looted randomness.--Arz 15:26, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
- Direct money is already in the list, at the bottom: "Each DP may be turned in to get 250 GP per ECL." I would be very amenable to alternate purchases as you list (NPC, property, etc). Craft costs, interesting idea. I can do that, I think. I'll crunch some numbers and get back to you. --Mqs 15:40, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
Bizarre and Unlikely Uses
What if I wanted to buy these:
- Levels
- Skill ranks above allowed for level
- Increases in saves, BAB, etc.
- DP in lieu of prereq (could I use DP to buy a prestige class that I don't meet the prereqs for? Say, something requires a level of ranger that I don't want to take (or going back to buying levels with DP).
