Hmmm, perhaps a different hominculus would fit your character better. I can see either the arbalester built into a pistol or a packmate from Magic of Eberron (152) as being better choices for you. There is also a potion based prestige class from the same book (53). I'm sure gentry could count as the pre-req of favored in house and your blood line would cover the dragonmark. ::Homunculus ref's - ECS:285-287 & MoE:152-153. My favs are expeditious messenger for scouting, dedicated wright for crafting, and packmate.
