- Major childhood influences, traumas, events, emotional wounds: Dario proved young that the older boys would not best him. Without fear he would take on boys twice his age and triple his size. Victory was not always won but his fearlessness as he fought the other boys in the vineyard earned him the nickname "Lion of the Grapes".
- Talents: The art of conversation is every bit as thrilling as the fencing to Dario. A rapscallion with the ladies, he is always honest and forthcoming, yet they bed him anyway.

- Rosetta Capelli - Teenage liaison's in the vineyard led Rosetta to believe that Dario was her true love. Dario did not reciprocate and in his inexperience with the hearts of women broke hers.
- Arnaldo Taso - A cheesemaker who's wife fell for Dario's charms. Dario was deceived by the wife, Lisetta, and has tried to make amends with Arnaldo, but to no avail.
- Malyth - A former companion whose darker nature ran afoul of Dario's light. Left the party but swore to return.
- Friends:
- Fiora Libertini - While in bed she told Dario the bardic tales of heroes who saved people and slayed dragons, and how the people were inspired by the tales. Dario left town with her company and started his adventuring life.
- Fyodor Revnik - No one believes that this bear of a man slings spells until you are on the receiving end of a blast of cold that cuts you to the bones. Fyodor saw a magical spark in Dario and tried to fan the embers to life but the time was not right. Dario holds him in high regards as a master.
