From Drinking and Dragons
For a 'New World' feel (and real world fact parallels), I recommend "three week" become "three months" [Western Europe to the Caribbean, when it was a known journey with well-developed naval vessels took around 40 days]. If it's only three weeks, there certainly won't be much of a feel of disconnect from the Old World. --Mqs 03:45, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
- My timetable was taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Columbus, where it was commented (1) "During his first voyage in 1492, the brisk trade winds from the east, commonly called "easterlies", propelled Columbus's fleet for five weeks, from the Canary Islands to the Bahamas." and (2) that the amount of time the trip would take wasn't correctly told. My naval knowledge could fill a thimble, so thanks for the clarification. --Randy (Talk) 04:51, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
