Looking for Kimiko

Monkey Man: We have heard rumors that Kimiko works in the Pleasing District and so we start our search there. There are cloak vendors all around us so that those coming to this part of town may hide their identity. We choose not to and Shen is swarmed by women offering their goods. Shen politely refuses, saying that he wishes to stay pure until after the tournament. This of course drives the women into a titter.

While this is going on I use my contacts—they are everywhere—to find out that Kimiko works as a painter in the Pleasing District. Han learns that Soon and his trainer were here recently, tearing up a girl's painting stand.

Going to the Poor District

Monkey Man: From the information we have collected we learn that Kimiko lives in the Poor District and we head there. Soon we find ourselves surrounded and the Brigadier is starting a push fight with the local colors. Between the rest of us we manage to turn the whole thing into an impromptu picnic, quelling the locals.

Kimiko thanks us and we are able to start talking with her. Well, I say "we" in the royal sense, as she is quite nervous being around all of the tournament champions. And so [Katy's PC] talks with her privately over tea where we learn that she had a nontraditional relationship with Soon. She had connections and was able to help Soon win a prior tournament by getting the decree early. She was there when Soon died.

Chase Scene

Monkey Man: While the girls talked over tea Shen's sharp eyes caught sight of Monowongo hiding nearby and she bolts. Shen, the Brigadier, and I chase after her into the Amber Realm. When we catch up to her she expects us to kill her. We manage to talk her down and just as she was about to tell us a key fact she is shot in the head.

In her hand is the tournament scroll. Han and I race for it with me beating the bureaucrat by a good margin and I send it off with my monkeys. We are surrounded by guards who look intent on killing the lot of us.
