From Drinking and Dragons

My proposed adaptation of the Risen Martyr PrC. I'm skipping pre-reqs since it is Wes specific. It focuses a bit on his love of demon punching and his need to get his son back. Questions, comments, and whatnot is welcome.

Note that Wes can not take any other classes once he is in the PrC.

Class Skills

The risen martyr’s class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Concentration (Cha), Diplomacy (Cha), Gather Information (Cha), Heal (Wis), Knowledge (the planes) (Int), Knowledge (religion) (Int), Listen (Wis), Sense Motive (Wis), Spellcraft (Int), Spot (Wis), and Tumble (Dex). See Chapter 4 of the Player’s Handbook for skill descriptions.
Skill Points at Each Level: 2 + Int modifier.

Abilities

  • Spiritual Body (Ex): When Wes rises as a 0-level vow sworn, he takes on a corporeal spirit form. His creature type changes to deathless, and he gains the features and traits of the deathless type. Deathless creatures have no Constitution score, and the risen martyr rerolls his hit points using d12s instead of his previous racial and class-based Hit Dice. Wes’s spiritual body is formed of solid, spiritual flesh and is neither ghostly nor incorporeal. His ability scores remain unchanged (except for his Constitution score), and all his other characteristics remain the same except that he is no longer a living creature.
  • Vowforged Soul: The ties that bind Wes to the material plane are now forged with the words of creation. Wes must substitute one of his existing feats for the feat Sacred Vow. He may also lose additional feats to gain more vows. He is also bound to learn celestial as a language when gaining the first level of this class.
  • Ki Strike (lawful) (Su): Unarmed attacks are treated as lawful weapons, as per the 10th level monk ability.
  • Magic Circle Against Evil (Su): At 1st level, Wes is continually surrounded by a protective aura that functions as a magic circle against evil spell.
  • Charisma Score Increase: At 2nd level, Wes gains a +1 bonus to Charisma. At 5th and 8th level, this bonus increases by an additional +1.
  • Spells per Day/Spells Known: At second level and every other level after that, Wes gains new spells per day (and spells known, if applicable) as if he had also gained a level in a spellcasting class he belonged to before adding the prestige class. He does not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained (improved chance of turning or destroying undead, metamagic or item creation feats, and so on), except for an increased effective level of spellcasting.
  • Nemesis (evil outsiders) (Ex): Wes gains the bonus feat Nemesis (evil outsiders) even though he does not meet the requirements.
  • Protective Aura (Su): At 4th level, the Wes’s magic circle against evil is replaced by an effect that duplicates the protective aura spell.
  • Ki Strike (fiend piercing) (Su): Wes's unarmed attacks now overcome the natural damage reduction that evil outsiders may possess. This does not effect spells that effect the evil outsider's damage reduction value, such as stoneskin, or powers, such as biofeedback.
  • Holy Aura (Su): At 7th level, Wes’s protective aura is supplemented by an effect that duplicates the holy aura spell. The holy aura protects only Wes, while his protective aura continues to protect allies within 10 feet as well as himself.
  • Ki Strike (fiendbane) (Su): Wes's unarmed attacks are now treated as a bane weapon toward evil outsiders. This improves the effective enchantment of his unarmed attacks by +2 and he deals an additional 2d6 damage.
  • Ascension: When Wes gains enough experience to reach the 11th level of this class, he instead is taken to the upper planes to face judgement.
