Item Creation Ideas to start with

I got these 'to make' totals by taking the price and doing some math.

items I would like to create (start with):

Deck of Illusions, cost 3037.5g to make (level 6)
Gem of Brightness, 4875g to make (level 6)
Gloves of Dexterity +6, 4500g to make (level 8)
Handy Haversack, 250g to make (level 9)
Bag of Holding (Type IV), 1250g to make (level 9)
Amulet of Natural Armor +2, 3000g to make (can only make +2 as its caster level 6)

125 units of CLW Potions (1d6+5, caster level 6), 1171.875g and 37.5 CR , HP=750~1375
12.5 units of CSW Potions (3d6+6 , caster level 6), 1757.8125g and 56.25 CR, HP=112.5~300

Self Created item using rules:

Cloak of loose lips (+10 to Gather information), 3750g
Skill bonus (competence), Bonus squared × 100 gp x 0.125 || 10x10 x100 x0.375
or maybe (grins)
Cloak of loose lips (+25 to Gather information), 23,437.5g
Skill bonus (competence), Bonus squared × 100 gp x 0.125 || 25x25 x100 x0.375

** can I creat items that apply to catagories (like Deception ) or just skills (like Gather information)

Please remember that items require a certain caster level to create. You don't meet the caster level requirement for them. For example, a handy haversack requires caster level 9 to create. Your costs also seem off. Randy will get back to you on that. --Mqs 20:46, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

"For purposes of meeting item prerequisites, an artificer’s effective caster level equals his artificer level +2."

Ok well I got my math for items like this:

FOR GOLD: [Base gold], -50% (base creation discount), -25% (feat bonus) = 0.125 or 12.5% cost

FOR XP: [Base xp], x1/25 or x0.04% (base creation discount), -25% (feat bonus), [x5 if GP spent] = 15%CR or 75% gold

Refer to this post for proper use of the cost-reduction feats. http://www.enworld.org/forum/d-d-3rd-edition-rules/139280-extraordinary-legendary-artisan-cumulative.html#post2398321

FOR GOLD: ( ( [base gold] / 2 ) * .75 ) or [base gold] x 0.375
FOR XP: ( ( [base XP] / 25 ) * .75 ) or [base xp] x 0.03 (OR 0.15 for xp to gold conversion)
FOR TIME: ( [total final cost in gold] / 1000g ) = day(s)

Ahh glad someone had a breakdown that was logical (also updated prices), added time for record keeping.

Pre Generation Questions

ok in the books I am reading it says that the bloodline level adds to spell caster level (for determine spell level not spells per day), does it apply to my item creation ability?

I've never noticed that. Can you point me to the page? Or am I confusing the Arcanis blodrank with the UA bloodlines? If you are refering to the UA stuff, then it will only increase the CL for your infusions. --Askewnotion 13:58, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Idea for construct: http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Psicrystal

Are artificers hunted by the Sorcerer King?

Eric and I where talking, and he posed a good question to me:

Q: I am not an Arcane caster, and therefor not hunted. (anyone care to disagree)?

A: An artificer is not a spellcaster, but he does have the ability to imbue items with magical infusions. Infusions are neither arcane nor divine; they are drawn from the artificer infusion list (see Chapter 5: Magic). They function just like spells and follow all the rules for spells. For example, an infusion can be dispelled, it will not function in an antimagic area, and an artificer must make a Concentration check if injured while imbuing an item with an infusion.

Artificers are not hunted. --Randy (Talk) 13:35, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

The Tongues of Man are of All Men

My suggestion would be +1 to all knowledge skills. It would equate to a total of about 9 +1's, so it seems reasonable. Perhaps for the language allow the character to learn 1 language when that Val ability is taken, or instead, allow all bonus languages at character creation. My 2 cents. --Askewnotion 13:58, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

I allready get a +4, +ELC, and a +2 to all Knowledges from my other Val Ability. I'd rather take the other one twice ;) LOL it would be a stronger bonus. However I do like the idea of having more (maybe 6 to 9, since I started with 6 allready ) bonus Languages, since the other Val ability is more PP (which i dont have) i dont have much choice about taking this one. - Loriean

PS: someone needs to show me how to put an auto signature like you have

Click the signature button in the top. It's the 2nd to last button in the normal editor. Or, type dash(x2)tilde(x4). Prefixing lines with a colon or more indents that many levels for tracking replies. --Mqs 20:21, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

DM review

  • You have 56 skill points to spend on any skill and 7 skill points that may be spent only on Knowledges. Let me know when they are all assigned.

-- Mechanics +7
-- Spellcraft +7
-- Notice +7
-- Streetwise +7
-- Streetwise +7
-- Influence +7
-- Use Magic +7
--- sub total 49 (of 56)
- Knowledges (6 of them each get +2) +12
--- sub total 61 (of 56+7= 63) - Nobility +2
---final total 63 (of 56+7 = 63)

  • Modified the Tongues of Man ability to fit into the changes I've made in the campaign. It gives the same ability as written in the book, just with slightly different rules.
  • I created Logsheet and Crafting pages so that they weren't on the main character sheet. See notes on those pages.
  • I ask that you run items you are crafting by me for approval prior to actually creating them. I'm fairly permissive.

Let me know if you have any questions. --Randy (Talk) 03:07, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
