Post-Combat

What to do with the Rhino Wildblood of Burden?

๐Ÿ˜ One-Tusk: Wildbloods "of burden" still deserve some dignity. We need to ensure that much. I rise from the back of the cart to see to it, but Ildefons "gently" suggests that I need treatment.

๐Ÿ’ƒ Milady Rosalie: There is no way we can take this rhino back into town. Lucky for us, we are near the village of Chirp. I'm not sure what use the rhino would have been for them, but I have a feeling they are better equipped to handle the situation.

It was decided that I need to take Ehsan's horse to the village while leading the wildblood. I've never ridden a burdenous wildblood, let alone one of these before. It was an... experience, to say the least, especially with a broken arm.

They were able to take it in; something about being able to clear areas and down trees or the like. They let me know they can't fix my arm, even though I don't ask. I've had worse. I've lost worse. This can be taken care of later. Right now, there are more important matters to attend to.

๐Ÿน Ehsan: This rhinoceros is proving to be much more difficult to handle than I had anticipated. It's unfortunate but I don't think we'll be able to continue on to the city like this. Not to mention the damn think managed to throw and trample one of my boots. Thankfully Chirp is nearby but I cannot go myself, so Rosalie will take Sameen to the city while leading the unruly animal. Her task seems to have went over well, thankfully, and we are rid of the burden.

Doctoring OneTusk

๐Ÿ˜ One-Tusk: I am, in fact, in a bad way. I haven't been hurt this bad sinceโ€ฆ well, since a long time back. I'm losing everything, lately. I'mโ€ฆ reckless. Why shouldn't I be? The things I've doneโ€ฆ sometimes, I think I deserved to lose that tusk.

๐Ÿบ Ildefons: OneTusk's flesh is now resembling that of a leopard, there are so many bandages. Ehsan sends Rosalie and the Rhino to Chirp to take care of it while I perform battlefield medicine... What is this thick, smelly, slimy stuff next to OneTusk's ear? Ehsan needs new boots.

Return to the City of Lisway

๐Ÿ’ƒ Milady Rosalie: I am able to catch up and we make our way back to town. I am not able to get far, though, before people at the barracks usher me to see the medic. They are able to set the bones, though they are a bit shaky with the stitches. Half of them split the moment they cut the thread. It looks like this never-ending war has given me a few more scars. At least I can deal with them when they are of the flesh...

I step in to see Captain Hernaut and notice I lost my key. I'll have to get back to him later.

๐Ÿน Ehsan: Arriving back to the city I believe we should try and report back to Hernaut, but it seems some others will take to that task. In the mean time I need to replace my boot. Ildefons makes a suggestion for Haberdasher in the city. His clothes are fine enough and apparently he is the man who makes them for him so it should suffice. We arrive and the store is run by one of those wildbloods, a cat this time. But not a regular cat but more of a tall cat person. Very interesting to say the least, but regardless the new boots fit perfectly so my business may be coming here in the future.

Encounter at the Haberdasher

๐ŸŽฒ DM: Omprakash Jaasir el-Majid of the Order or Wurud delivered a letter to ๐Ÿน Ehsan.

๐Ÿน Ehsan: Omprakash...not someone I would have expected to see here of all places. It is painful to see him and his disrespect stings, but he brings news. A letter from home. Not from my sisters this time, but from mother. Father is sick...dying actually. I'll need to find a way to return home soon. For now I'll try to keep this quiet. Hopefully my face did not betray myself in the moment.

Searching for Captain Hernaut

๐Ÿ’ƒ Milady Rosalie: I check in at his watering hole and estate. He is at neither. This is somewhat troubling as he is a bit of a mess, but a predictable mess none the less.

What is weird is that he is being purposefully dodgy about where he is. I have to hope that the mole hasn't gotten to him. I have no choice but to break into his office somehow.

๐Ÿน Ehsan: After everyone reconvenes we decide to try and find Captain Hernaut, since he is conspicuously missing from his office and private residence. We make another trip to his office to hopefully find some clues, but it seems that Rosalie has lost her personal key. A secretary by the name of Plout is currently manning the desk, and despite being a wholly mess, she is quite insistent that no one be allowed entry without their own key as it signifies expressed permission to enter. Rosalie does manage to talk her way inside, however. Myself and One Tusk are left outside while she investigates and we run into Florint in the halls. It seems that he is working on some kind of secret project with the Captain, which he unceremoniously let slip to us.

Hernaut's Office

๐Ÿ’ƒ Milady Rosalie: Plout is at the desk. She has been making a fair bit of mistakes recently, so I offer to put some of them under the rug if she will let me in with the key I "forgot." At first she takes it the wrong way, but quickly sees that I am actually going to do her the favor and allows me to use her key.

I see the same note that was left on his desk at his manor from one of the guilds. Curiosity gets the better of me and I open it. It looks like he has been hiding some health problems. Looks like he is getting blight boil. Nasty stuff; the Sorcier magic twists life around it, and sometimes it can extend out to those that aren't even the sacrifice. It doesn't kill you when that happens, at least not immediately. There is no cure, and it looks a bit random when it will pop up.

This isn't good for a thousand reasons. It's one death, then another. I can feel the ritual strain increasing. It feels like every day more weight is being put onto my soul. I really have to accelerate the timeline in either setting myself into perpetuity or find others to take the place of the fallen. We pretty much know how to do the former but it is insanely difficult and will probably take my life prematurely. The latter, well, I have no idea where to get started on that.

This was a very bad week.
