What We've Learned about the Alien Artifact

🎲 DM: A lot of exposition.

Despite the group not getting their hands on the alien device, the Dr Dare, Agent Joykill, and Captain Starr managed use the hard drive that was stolen from the Russians to gather intel on the alien device indirectly. What they learned is that the alien pod was basically a large repository of digital information, like a hard drive from space. This pod was attached to a hyper-stellar fusion drive that had been knocked off its original course.

Deciphering the information in the pod would take time, and unfortunately, direct access to the pod. However the analysis of the pod that was done in the field provided a wealth of information on the engine. This hyper-stellar fusion drive could single-handed power nearly every electronic device on the planet. Used incorrectly, the resulting explosion would take a chunk out of the Earth the size of the moon.

While all this lab work was going on, Wolf was hitting up his contacts and greasing palms to learn what the Russians were up to. He discovered that they were planning to use the orb to power some sort of new war machine. A little more digging—and parting away with moderate amounts of American dollars—yielded that the Russians were working on this in a town near the Tunguska river in Siberia.

Dr Dare then proceeded to recount a variety of theories that revolved around the area, most notably that in 1908 something was rumored to have crashed there. 🎲 DM: See Tunguska event

Vic has been Bugged

🎲 DM: Vic Savage was offered, and accepted, a compel against I've seen the lizard faces of the politicians wherein he was abducted by the lackeys of a high-ranking official and implanted with an insect that partially controlled him. See also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydXenL7iu0w

MONTAGE

🎲 DM: Knowing where they needed to be and who they were facing, everyone participated in a montage! We used the special rules from ShotC for this.

Capt Starr
Worked on tuning the engines to his starcraft so that it would go faster
Dr Dare
Used a stunt to expand the starcraft to hold more people but welding it together with a Winnebago, much to the chagrin of Starr.
Analyzed the data from the Russian hard drive more thoroughly
Vic
Practiced his stealth and parkour
Joykill
Spoke with her grandfather, who had learned a lot about the aliens when he was kidnapped years ago.
Wolf
Pumped iron, played basketball, and generally focused on keeping his strength up.

Just as the cast was leaving for Russia (from the US), Dr Dare's aspect, Disregarded and Ignored was compelled for him to be left behind. Everyone then had to make an Overcome roll against a 7 to catch him up. They succeeded.

Dr Dare used his mathemagic to teleport from the other side of the globe to the Russian base using the exit point of the miniature black hole (see Tunguska event above). He was then compelled using his Novice Geometric Mathemagician for a side effect. The players rolled off to get to be the player to choose the effect. Dr Dare then had Miniature Dr Dare as he came out the other side of the teleport a bit smaller.

Fake Town near the Tunguska River

🎲 DM: This was setup as a fight between the players and the Fortress they were trying to penetrate, which also had a Tank

Fortress
Aspects—Surrounded by a Fake Town, Swarming with Guards, Radiation Everywhere
6 Stress boxes (1 point each, many can be checked per hit); Mild consequence
Skills—Soliders +3, Traps +3 (In hindsight I should've added Cameras +2, and Confusing Streets +1)
Tank
Aspects—Tank
3 Stress boxes (1,2,3) and no consequences
Armor: 2
Skills—Fire +4 (shells, not flame), Anything else +1
Scene Aspects

The Fortress was defeated with an 11 stress hit by Agent Joykill, who single-handed defeated a squad of soldiers, climbed inside the tank, and blew a hole in the side of the final building.

A Spaceship?!

🎲 DM: After the Fortress was defeated the ground began to quake and rumble. The building collapsed a giant round spaceship began to ascend into the air...
